M&M Observation in Exploration Alley-Yum!!

What better way to review our scientific method skills then with a yummy observation activity! The students used the M&M packages to compose some amazing detailed observations that led to some intriguing questions and a fun-filled discovery.

Great Work Examples!!

This week we have been working on creating several Thinking Maps.  In Reading, we created vocabulary circle maps and a double bubble.  For our Native American unit, the students created tribe circle maps including food, shelter, entertainment and location of the tribe. Check out the pictures below for great examples.  As the year progresses we will be posting other work examples.

Below is a link to the site Johnnie's Math page which has several online math games that focus on multiplication.  This is a very important skill that must be mastered.  Students should be fluent when using multiplication and the basic facts 0-12.  Multiplication is part of every unit we study in 5th grade. Practicing a few minutes each night will help your child master these facts.

Welcome Back 2013

We are glad to have you as part of our class this school year.  Fifth grade is a very challenging but fun and engaging year.  Attached is our school supply list.  We have modified it to reflect what we use in class so you do not need to purchase extra unnecessary supplies.
