Today during ZONE Mrs. Peterson and I hosted the Rainbow Loom Bracelets room and we had a blast. The kids were taught how to make a fish tail bracelet. Even though we had a bunch of bracelet experts there were several students who learned something new. We had bracelets with patterns, solid colors and a rainbow pattern. Thanks to Mrs. Peterson and Ms. Butler for picking up the supplies.

Pumpkin Dissection
Following our Dress Up in Words presentation the 5th grade dissected gourds. The kids worked through the science process incorporating all of the skills they have learned. They measured the mass by using triple beam balances along with seeing if they would sink or float. The last step was to cut open the pumpkin (we did this for them) and pull out the guts and count the seeds.
Adjectives, Adjectives, Adjectives!!!
Every October we study adjectives. They have been working hard learning new adjectives. They created adjective pumpkins, an adjective menu and a hat for Dress Up in Words!! The kids were to pick an adjective and create a hat based on that word. Below are pictures of those students who created a hat plus the 3 winners from each class.
Exploration Alley
During Exploration Alley we got to play with our food. Students were put into groups and had to classify snack chips. They worked together to classify them by shape, size, color and texture. For the descriptions they had to also compare the chip to something in the real world. For example, James compared the ridges on a sun ship to the hills on a dirt bike track.
